Call of the Wilde: Youth is Served

September 20, 2017

By Brian Wilde

The Habs once again iced two lines that look like they might be together on opening night. Drouin with Pacioretty and Hemsky is the top line heading into the season right now. The third line of  Plekanec centering Lehkonen and Hudon also appears set for Buffalo October 5th. To the Wilde Horses we go….

I was watching Mete closely for errors & he always made the smart play. Very impressive.

Didn’t see the game but from the highlights that I have seen tells me that Hudon is for real and will be staying.
    Great work Brian..
    Cheers

Pretty entertaining game, interested to see if any of the kids from tonight get an additional look for the back to back game vs NJ. Factoring in a couple injuries from the roster vs the Bruins I’m guessing it’s a possibility.

43 shots? thats awesome! Hopefully they can keep that up come season. Great article Brian. I cant agree more that Lehkonen should be top 6. The kid is just too good and he will only get better if you surround him with better players and more ice time.

NHL experience doesn’t necessarily equate to NHL caliber, however when you look at our team and see these AHL (and junior) guys ready to make the jump to the show in addition to our regulars, there’s no denying we have a team that can compete. It’s easy to get concerned about losing games in preseason but people need to keep in mind that we basically have 2 half powered teams that are on the ice each game right now. Once you take the better half of those teams and combine them, add in the 100% effort of the regular season, you have a team that will get the wins.

True Jennifer. I think the showing of Hudon and Mete is the big upside so far, albeit in the pre season. Still good though for sure. Drouin is going to be a wrecking ball on the power play too.
