Call of the Wilde: Du Calme

September 18, 2017

By Brian Wilde

Still some grains of salt to be sprinkled all over these thoughts considering it is the pre-season but at least the Habs weren’t playing Habs, so laying a guy out brought cheers instead of jeers that you injured your own teammate. The Habs didn’t bring their top line to Québec City, so no look at how Drouin fared against real opposition yet. However, the Habs did bring two full NHL lines so against a very weak Boston line up – you certainly wanted to see some domination when those six were on the ice.

185 bucks for an exhibition game that is just criminal……

Good article Brian. You could tell last night that it was the first pre-season game.
I totally agree on McCarron, he is not that bad of a skater. He wasn’t that physical last night and agree he should be stronger on the boards. He should really try and watch Boyle’s game and try and emulate it.

    Great job Brian.

I really like that second line pairing. I hope it sticks together come regular season.

I will also agree that the $185 is a bit much for a preseason game but 9248 came and some of them paid the $185 for tickets because they want a team back so badly. I don’t how the NHL will receive the message if nobody wants to pay for those prices.

Cross your fingers that Shaw has a fantastic injury free season .

    Cheers

Great read Brian! There seems to be a ton of undue crap being piled onto Galchenyk this morning. I really wish people would settle down…it’s game 1 of the preseason. Questioning his heart or care level is completely unjust.

One should never ever make too much of a pre season game for a player who has already earned a roster spot. It’s silly.

I noted that about McCarron’s puck battle abilities a couple times last season. He’s still young and adapting to the NHL pace, but yeah a guy with his size and strength does get knocked off the puck a little too easily at times. I bet he will address that weakness as he continues to develop his game and hopefully solidify his spot on the NHL roster.
