Call Of The Wilde: Laval Awaits

September 23, 2017

  • – The best Habs player this camp has been Charles Hudon. He continued with the chance only 12 seconds in. I said on Twitter that he could get an apartment now. Let me add that he can get a real nice one and buy all the furniture. He then scored the Habs goal to get off the goose. Beautiful pass from Plekanec.
  • – Daniel Audette has quietly had a very nice camp. He’s shown more than I thought he had. I am not sure that there is an NHL career in Audette’s career but I am more confident in the chance now for sure. Here’s a prediction: when it’s all said and done, Audette will have been mostly an AHLer with some NHL work filling in for injuries. Good camp though. Perhaps he keeps proving me wrong.

Bold prediction: Plekanec finishes second with ice time and points for centre position this year for Habs.

IMO Carr was 4th best player for Habs tonight. Great net presence. I saw McCarron last year in Ottawa pre-season. He had an awesome game! Was everywhere, hitting everyone and creating offensive. Almost nothing from him tonight. Very disappointing. Is he does what Carr does then he will have a decent career.

That being said the D was soft tonight!

    Love your analysis Brian! Thanks.

You made it very clear. Mete is better than all those cusp players. Keep him, because we’ll have 2 d men injured by November.

As you said, no one care about the 0 and 4. my concern they still have the same problem scoring goals.
If they lost 6-5 no issue there. same as last year they don’t score goals and that’s need to be fixed.
who will be playing on the right ? with the last cut. Only 2 right D-man left Weber and Petry. OK Benn can play on the right. lets face it MB will be using the 8.5M soon.

I had high hopes for both Morrow and Davidson. A friend who watched a lot of Sharks hockey the last couple of seasons tells me SCHlemko is going to make us very happy. Haven’t heard much about Byron of Mitchell all camp?

Brian, great points again (from earlier Twitter discussion) about Plekanec. I hope he has a solid season. I think he will.
