Call Of The Wilde: Mete The Survivor

September 25, 2017

By Brian Wilde

The Habs horrible pre-season record continues. The Habs are  0 and 5 now, after losing 5-1 as both teams iced close to their starting line ups in October. In fact, that may have been all of Toronto’s opening night roster. As a result, it was a big test for the Habs – and they did not pass. So to the Wilde Horses and the much more numbered Wilde Goats…..

Wilde Horses

  • – Tomas Plekanec continues the best pre-season I can remember from him in a long time. He knew he had a tough year and he’s decided to take nothing lightly this year, including the pre-season. He hit the bar in the first with a strong shot. He was near the net often.
  • – Charles Hudon with another strong game. The Habs have not had a good camp. A lot of defenders did not defend well. They have had only two positive surprises. Hudon is one with good moves, good shot, nice nose for the net and an attitude that this is the year. And it is.

Nice COTW! I can’t wait to see Schlemko in action and hopefully before the season starts. Mete. Is. Awesome! He needs to stay.

Early signs of trouble ahead. Hope I’m wrong or it’s gonna be a long season .

The thing about Drouin at centre is folks seem to be ready for patience with him, yet I don’t feel that was ever the case with Galchenyuk. He’d get a few shifts at C and be moved to the wing. Maybe it’s because we didn’t draft Drouin, nor was he drafted as a C, but I still believe the Habs are a better team with Chucky at C than they will be with Drouin there (of course, would love it if both could play C). Chuck looks lost on wing. I doubt he’s any worse defensively at either forward position, but he seems to produce more offense from the middle.

I didn’t get to catch much of the game, but I rarely watched the Habs control the puck out of their own end…seemed like a lot of dumping the puck out…was really hoping that was a MT thing, but maybe it is a personnel issue? preseason doesn’t mean anything results wise – but I was hoping to see more progress with the system. obviously no need to panic, but not a lot to make you more excited either.

Drouin only playing one game is huge, you’d think they would want him to get the reps in.
Schlemko just smells funny, a bruised hand?
But the Habs have been so open about injuries why lie here?
