Call Of The Wilde: Oh There They Are

September 30, 2017

  • – What a difference one minute can make in your life – Alex Galchenyuk is pushed to the fourth line and struggling. The coach even calls him out saying he needs to work harder. Then, late in the first period he scores a goal scorer’s goal. It’s the kind of goal that many don’t score; it’s the short side shot, the type of shot the goalie is cheating on. Less than a minute later and Julien plays a hunch. Galchenyuk is on the ice, and this time he feeds Andrew Shaw with a gorgeous pass. Two world class plays, and two weeks worth of frustration is all in the past. This player has such greatness in him. He can be so special. He’s the type of player that I keep saying you can not give up on. You have to be patient with him because if you do, when he decides to put the things of youth behind him he’s going to make you look like a fool. So here we are: the moment didn’t come soon, but it came in time. When Galchenyuk is healthy, showing his talent and working hard he makes the Habs a significantly better team. If they get the better Alex, my 92 points prediction is not going to be a good one.

    Brian

Thanks for the recap, well done. I hope that with Galchenyuk, when he falters, isn’t bashed to a fourth line role. That is not him, never will be. That kind of “punishment” will nothing for him or the team. Patience and rewards. I would like to see the Haps sign Jagr, would be a good mentor for Galchenyuk.

Great COTW. Mete is definitively making it much easier to digest Sergachev being dealt. The kid looks like he belongs. Whether he does or not this year doesn’t take away that his future looks bright.

Great point about Claude Julien. He knew Galchenyuk had it tonight and he made sure he put him on the ice every opportunity he had

There were a ton of scouts at last night’s game. I wonder if that had anything to do with the boost in some players’ motivation level.

Great read…I like Galchenyuk down low on PP…he has quicker hands…MaxPac is a shooter but he needs to be able to shoot while moving…..
