Habs 365: News And Notes In San Jose

October 16, 2017

By Brian Wilde

The long wait continues for the Montreal Canadiens for David Schlemko to be ready to play in the NHL this season. Schlemko played a single game last Friday night in Laval for the Rocket taking a regular shift and finishing with a plus two on the night – the only defenceman who had any stability on a wild night of hockey when the Rocket won 8-7 and no defenceman besides Schlemko looked like they had any clue how to do their job.

After the contest, Schlemko said that he felt fine except that he was “huffing and puffing” trying to catch his breath. He felt he could use one more game of conditioning in Laval, but was called up the next morning in an attempt to get him into the line up that night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Something happened on the way to the rink though and Schlemko was deemed not ready to play yet.

Interesting comments. Without hurting their own team, I just don’t think Mtl has the assests that NYI would want in any deal.

What would Isles want in return for any of those players? what makes sense for the Habs here?

Carey will work it out. While I’m not sold a deal is near, would rather have help up front than the back end. Just my op.

I see nothing more than a minor deal to help beef up the bottom 6 lines . That’s a safe typical Marc move.

    Great article btw

    Very interesting throughout.

I hope that the cap space is used wisely and not just used as a knee jerk reaction to quickly fill a void. There are voids that need filling, but MB will hopefully choose wisely.
