McLean’s Pub Call Of The Wilde: 11 Or Bust.

January 23, 2018

By Brian Wilde

The Colorado Avalanche had 48 points last season and it sure looked like they were going to be pathetic for years and years like the Sabres and Coyotes of the hockey world. Lo and behold, instead the Avalanche were on the verge in Montreal of attaining an 11th straight win which is remarkable for any team, never mind a team that was the worst in the NHL since expansion. To the COTW to see if the Habs could stop the streak and help Max Pacioretty continue his own impressive streak of seven goals in seven games.

Avs have like 8 top 10-15 draft picks on their roster. Habs need to do more than a ‘re-tool’ they need to tear this sucker down. They need to add 2 high end centres and a top pair Dman, plus will need a sniper once Max is gone. no more dinking around as the ‘core’ ages and gets traded away – Do it right.

Love it! Great game by the habs tonight. Hopefully we turn it around next season like the avs did. Also when is your next podcast coming out?

Did Max really tell Chucky not to celebrate so much? If that’s true a little part of me wants to see Max traded to the Preds. Just so he has to watch PK celebrate.

Thank you for explaining the thinking behind the incredibble untouchableness of being Marc Bergevin. I hope Petry is also there. Am I delusional to think there is a sliver of possibility we could see PK return in a trade for our captain? I suppose so, especially given they are leaning on PK for big minutes in Nashville. I do believe that getting him back might restore some sort of bad Karma.

Byron as Centre reminds me of Desharnais in that position, right down to the chemistry with #67. Can this work? Doesn’t appear to be hurting (so far).

I think with Price’s revelation of the syndrome, and with Lindgren looking as good as he does, is it crazy to think of taking Price off that untouchables list to get a true game-changing centreman as Stu Cowan suggests? I doubt it, for this GM anyway.

I have to comment on this syndrome stuff. This was a poorly written story. There was no doctor on the Habs quote and there was no Carey Price quote. CFS is a very serious illness and it is completely debilitating. Someone who has it can not get out of bed for days and days. He had a vitamin test and was deficient in vitamin b12 and vitamin d according to the story. That is not a syndrome diagnosis. Vitamin D means he isn’t getting enough sun basically and should go to a beach in the summer rather than the dark outback. The Price quote is he felt tired and he shouldn’t have been. For me, this was extremely poor journalism calling it a syndrome and that’s why he didn’t want to talk about it anymore on Monday. Just between you and me at the web site this was the type of journalism that makes people second guess ever playing here 🙂
