McLeans Pub Call Of The Wilde: Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

January 15, 2018

By Brian Wilde

The Montreal Canadiens suffered more than just an overtime loss against the Boston Bruins Saturday night. They also lost two key players: Phillip Danault due to a brain injury and Andrew Shaw due to a lower body injury. That produced a move on the waiver wire picking up from the Anaheim Ducks Logan Shaw, and a move in the line up to center of Paul Byron. Here’s the Call Of The Wilde…

All I see is opportunity. Can you imagine if they get a player/prospect/pick for Pacioretty? The Craig Rivet trade keeps on giving. This will turn around. Great opportunity to gouge the Stanley Cup favorites in the league! Montreal is a crazy city. This happens/has happened to many teams in the NHL, but we have the audacity to think it’s unacceptable in Montreal. The city is a bigger problem than the team IMO.

It’s not like they would do anything in the playoffs anyways. Best thing that could happen to them in my opinion.

Yeah Price can make those saves when he’s on. Tonight he wasn’t. Also in the goats section are the refs. Some incredibly mind-numbing calls and non-calls directly affecting the outcome. This has to stop. Along with the offside BS. Please NHL.

Unless packaging Lindgren gets you a potential 1C, I’ve would not trade him. He’s the best insurance policy Habs have in case Price gets injured again. Also, with how much Price has struggled this season, Lindgren is probably more valuable to the Canadiens than any other team.

Lingren? No. Trade over paid, over rated price who has won nothing except a vezina and get a top C and drafts in return.put lingren in nets. Everyone kisses prices azz oh the best goalie ever.technicque wise ya i agree, after ten yrs here no cup.now were going to build ,rebuild, retool around a 30 yr old goalie whos gunna make $15 mill the next two ssns, locked in for 8 yrs.stupid move.building around a goalie.we need CENTERS.have for two decades. Trying to put wingers at center is a monumental flop.stop pounding sq pegs into round hole and crossing your fingers bergy. Price is the hugest trade bait we have, trade him for a 1c before july.

Greiss may not be good in general, but he seems to always have our number! Every time we play them, we can’t seem to get anything past him. We got as much as we did because we pummeled him with shots. If Lindgren is traded (or really when) I would honestly rather see him go to a WC team so we don’t have to play against him much, he will make us pay 🙂

    Excellent,
i watched 14 just because you kept mentioning it, thats value, Habs could even retain some cap to make the deal sweeter. I’ll miss the turtleneck but you have to move on, zero sum game.
will the cap space be an added bonus to take on an expiring contract for the remainder of the year so a team could make room for another addition? not the original plan for the space but could be beneficial now. Anything MB does is bashed, very sad, 27 be patient, 92 be patient, sell sell sell and lets go 2018-2019!

The penalty call on Byron was the worst call by a professional referee I have ever seen in my life . . . ever! The leagues should fine their refs for blatantly botching a call…or send them to the minors

You are right to say MB makes some good moves, but Deslauriers for Redmond is more like shoplifting.
