Enjoying a smooth transition to the college game and already a coach’s favourite given his smarts, work habits and all-around game. Scouts were happy to see him invited to the U-18’s, no surprise after his eye-opening performance for the US last summer in the Ivan Hlinka. Will likely be a solid two-way second- or third-line center with size, skill and character that helps an NHL team win playoff games.

I liked him a lot in the summer.January 2016
He was great last night. He could start to pop now. His skating projects to be above average....good enough for sure.March 27, 2017
There's a chance that he goes to play for the USA. He's a solid two-way centerman, responsible, good effort, pretty good playmaker. He's a true freshman..that's tough to produce at that level. Put him in high school and see what he would have done. That's a big step. He has second-line upside for sure. Good size center, good hockey sense.April 9, 2017
I saw him a lot so I feel pretty comfortable with what he is. If he goes over to the U-18 and puts up some points I could see his stock rising. He plays a really mature game, very smart player, hockey sense is probably the best asset, really responsible defensively, supports pucks very well, he anticipates plays, always around the puck.
Great motor, every time I see him he plays really hard, always moving his feet. He's physically immature so he lost puck battles this year. I think once he fills out he'll be able to do that. He's a good skater, could become very good once he gets stronger. Offensively, I think he's more of a playmaker which his stats don't really bear out as he had more goals than assists. I see a guy that has good puck poise, can make plays to the weak side, a lot of my reports noted that he could have had an assist or two if guys finished for him...typically he played with his brothers who aren't the most skilled guys. I actually don't think he shoots the puck all that well, but also think he needs to shoot more. He's a pass-first guy. I'd like to see him take pucks to the net more and shoot more. I don't think his team scored a whole lot..he wasn't on the powerplay until December or so.
You meet him off the ice he's very mature mentally..but he's your typical 17-year-old physically..he's got a young body yet. Once his body matures he'll be ready to play...he's a pretty safe bet. He reminds me a little bit of Bowers. I feel really good saying he'll be a third-line guy but I do think this guy has a chance to be a second-line, powerplay guy...I think there's more offence there.
I think you have to have chief scouts or crossover guys looking at him that realize how hard it is for a 17-year-old to play college hockey. You don't see anything high-end and the numbers don't bear out, so I'll be interested to see if that drops him at all. But I like him..great kid and all of that too...so it's easy to believe in him.April 29, 2017
I liked his game I thought he played well.
