The “Other Rasmus” Turning Heads

It’s interesting to see Rasmus Sandin score two goals for the Soo tonight with defence partner Conor Timmins away at the WJC. Given more of an offensive opportunity and he responds right away. There is no issue with his passing skills, nice to see him score a couple of goals. Quite possibly the best first-pass of any CHL draft-eligible defenceman, Sandin is a smooth-skating OHL rookie blueliner from Sweden who has worked his way into the first round on Recrutes’ draft list. He shows tremendous poise and smarts for a defender in only his second month playing in North America..he took no time whatsoever to adapt to the smaller ice surface.
Sandin ended the game with two goals and an assist on the game-winner scored by fellow draft-eligible prospect Barrett Hayton, who put the Soo ahead 6-5 with 16 seconds left in the game as Flint lost once again, and the Greyhounds extended their winning streak to 22. Hayton may well go in the top ten and Sandin could climb into the top 20 by draft day.
