Recrutes scout Jonathan Cottone and founder Grant McCagg discuss Daniil But, Matvei Michkov and other top prospects for the NHL draft in their first installment of the Recrutes Podcast.
Excellent podcast! Looking forward to the next one… To your point about NHL teams wanting big sized players ( Daniil But etc.)to be able to withstand the grind of the playoffs, it’s makes a lot of sense, however I’m sure a team that had
hypothetically speaking , a Crosby, Patrick Kane, Brad Marchand, Makar and Fox , all in their prime, all under 6 ft, would have no trouble winning quite a few Stanley Cups..
All of the players you just mentioned are thick and listed between 5-10 and 6-0 with the exception of the very stocky Marchand, who is 5-9.5. You’re not saying that Caufield, Farrell, Gallagher, Mesar, RHP, and Hutson are as big or as good as those guys?
I don’t believe I ever suggested that the Habs couldn’t win with three forwards and two defencemen between 5-10 and 6-0 who are superstars. But five wingers in the top nine between 5-7 and 5-10…and none of them named Crosby or Kane? You aren’t winning too many Cups I don’t think. ๐

Really enjoyed this! One stop shopping for recap of prospects and draft insight.
The segment on Mesar was great in that I don’t have a lot of information on his development.
