Recrutes Rocket Report – 5-1 loss to Binghamton

Here are some thoughts on nine players after Saturday’s live viewing of Binghamton’s 4-1 victory over Laval at Place Bell:
Nikita Scherbak – An up-and-down game from a young prospect know for inconsistency. The bright side was that he tallied his first goal of the season and it was a nice display of his skill – breaking for the blueline at the right moment to receive a Matt Taormina lead pass, carrying the puck up the left wall, stopping up and releasing a wicked wrist shot that beat Scott Wedgewood high on the glove side.
Scherbak is still going to need work on his defensive game though before the organization feels comfortable enough to place him in a top-six role at the NHL level. On more than one occasion when he received a pass along the wall in his own zone he made a risky decision that ended up in Binghamton’s possession…not the place you want to make a turnover if you don’t want your coach to berate you on the bench later.
