The Long Horizon

July 1, 2018

By Brian Wilde

Prepare for some short term pain for some long term gain. It’s not going to be pretty for a couple years here, Folks.  The organization is playing the long game for some serious shot at glory; instead of the short game for some serious arrested expectations year after year.

Thanks for this Brian. I’ve enjoyed your work on here all year.

I agree that things look decent in two years. I think they’ll be better this year than last as well.

Thank you Brian. This season has been one like none I can remember but you brought it all to us with class, style and intelligence. I hope this isn’t the last COTW I ever read. Enjoy “semi retirement” but don’t stay “retired” too long eh! Merci Beaucoup!

Isn’t anyone concerned that Poehling is going to go back again next year to St. Cloud and then just become a free agent? I find it a bit suspect that he doesn’t look like he would even entertain any ask to move to NHL this year because he “feels” he needs to develop more. NCAA drafting is risky af.

Great article Brian!! I hope to hear more from you in the future!! You have great insight and are so even keel. You shouldn’t be retiring, if you ask me… lol… All the best to you!!

As a life long Habs fan living in Calgary I have greatly enjoyed reading your Call of the Wilde reports this year. It was good to see your level headed approach to the Habs disappointing season.
I wish you all the best in whatever your next endeavor is.

What a nice text ! I agree completely with you. Your exemple with the Lightning is perfect.

And one last thing, what Vegas did with the roster that they had last year show me that any team can win if you have momentum and chemistry. That’s not always the best team on paper that win.

The futur is bright and my confident in Bergevin to build this team for the futur.

Thanks for your nice work Brian and have a great summer.

    Brian,

Thank you for a year of great coverage. It was a pleasure to support your work and to converse over all things Habs. Best of luck in your future endeavours, of course I’ll follow and support you wherever it leads.

On to the next! Go Habs Go!

Thanks Brian once again , for putting things in perspective. Last year was not a good year to be a Habs fan and the road will be rocky again this year, particularly on defence. Beyond Weber, Petry and Mete, slow is the operative word.

All the best in the future, Brian, your measured analysis will be sorely missed.
