No one knows what he asked for. So we really don’t know who was difficult.

Enjoy these Brian! I get it that Markov was with the Habs a long time but I don’t understand the backlash for letting him walk. As a fan I take what is said in the media and press conferences with a grain of salt. I think MB knows what he is doing and has a lot more info to base his decisions on then the media or the fans. I was skeptical after the PK trade but the fact MB finally fired Therrien and hired the best French coach as soon as he was available reaffirmed my confidence. MB letting Markov walk tells me he has the best interest of the team in mind! Bring on October already! Go Habs Go!
Brian Wilde says
I think the one thing that can be said about Bergevin is he does what he believes he should and his staff and he agree on. He is not trying to win a popularity contest for sure. He does the unpopular thing because he believes in himself.
I thought he totally blew it on the coach. I thought Therrien should have been fired the year before, but maybe he looked at it like okay now who. And he waited until there was a really top flight who.
Justin Budgell says
Agree with your Therrien comment and I wanted him gone long before as well. Like you said , there wasnt a clear cut guy to take over at that time. As soon as Julien was available MB made the move!

Parfait,Monsieur Wilde. Appréciant le réel de ce point. En tant que fans, nous devons regarder les deux côtés d’une pièce de monnaie.

De rien.
Andrew Marchand says
Another gem, keep up the good work.
I’m hoping some of the mainstream people take the time and watch this. Considering none of them have management experience or know what happened first hand.
Brian Wilde says
They will get a chance. We are still giving people a sneak peak at stuff to drum up some interest for a little bit. Thank you. I appreciate you on the twitter feed too.

100%?
Sandra Falcone says
So refreshing to hear an unbiased and objective point of view.
Brian Wilde says
Thank you to CJ and to Sandra. I appreciate that. I really believe that when the boat is too tilted one way the fact that life is various shades of grey usually isn’t being fairly represented.
Jean-Yves Fillion says
Great piece again Brian!

Thank you, Jean-Yves.

Excellent unbias analysis Brian!
I am not a big fan of MB, but I believe that he works with his team and as a team before every trade and all of that in the best interest of the team.
I would like to congratulate you and Grant on this website!
Very interesting Habs news!
Brian Wilde says
Thank you Claude. We are going to surprise
Jon Saunders says
Nice one Brian, so glad your back with us and your great articles and keeping it real with these types of quotes “Flip the coin”….nice touch. I think a lot of people need to do that and flip that coin, chill out have a cold one….it’s summer it will be a good season people trust that things will go well with Habs and management, their trying and I believe theres a plan. I mean it can’t be a bad thing 8.5 million in cap room for start of season lots of options to come at trade deadline!!
Brian Wilde says
Yeah, I read that someone said that it was an embarassment that the Habs had 8.5 million of room. I nearly lost by cola. The Caps losing players for nothing because they’re over the cap — that’s what might be considered embarrassing. Not a GM with 8.5 million to spare and a solid line up.
Jon Saunders says
Yep very true I seen a post on my twitter feed a couple of weeks ago of all the teams with their cap space, most teams are within that 1-3 million cap room starting the next season, gotta say we’re in pretty good shape.

Well done guys. This may very well be money well spent
Brian Wilde says
Thank you Chris. It’s a fine balance. We want people to see what we are going to be offering. We also want to reward our subscribers. The balance will surely be shifting as we establish what we will work our asses off to provide.
Michael says
Great stuff Brian. We shall see what all this turnover will bring, Gold or Silver.
Mr Montreal says
Chucky this Chucky That, am I the only one that wants to see Chucky play along side Drouin? Trade him they say for who RNH? No thanks. The guy scores 30 goals and then has an off season which probably has a lot to do with his injury, give the guy a break. I say forget the unspoken rule and put an offer sheet on Draisaitl would you not put in an offer sheet on Crosby or Price if they were made available? Come on flip the coin!
Grant McCagg says
Nearly everyone..including Brian and I..see Chuck getting an opportunity playing beside Drouin..with one of them playing center. If it happens that way and goes well..no..there will be little reason to give up several assets for RNH.
If you had read all of our articles so far you would have noticed that every scenario you raised has been broached..including an offer sheet to Draisaitl…so needless to say we don’t disagree. 🙂 Thanks for your reply.
Oliver Loertscher says
You’re amazing!
Scott Murray says
I have to agree about Markov. The Russians can load up on top-flight talent this Olympics, and possibly win a gold easy. He never turns down a chance to play for his homeland and if those guys want him, they don’t take no for an answer. Putin himself was embarrassed at the hockey team missing the podium in Sochi. I expect an all-out effort to avenge that in Seoul. If Markov has a role in their vision of that, they likely “made him an offer he couldn’t refuse”.
Didn’t Markov publicly ask for 6M/y ?
BTW, that is is the price for the 16th scorer.
