The podcasts are worth the 3 bucks.
The shaw segment was bone chilling. I do believe your correct but we hope your way off as you hope too!

Very happy for Amanda and her opportunity to further her career, but watching the Devils for 82 games…ugh!

It does seem challenging but they’re going to be much better led by the strength down the middle.

Excellent and interesting podcast. Glad to hear the excitement in Amanda’s voice and her insight about how it is different in NJ vis-a-vie hockey coverage. Your segment on Shaw needs to be heard by a wider audience. Long term brain injuries are much more prevalent in sports than most believe or want to admit. IMO parents need to be more aware of these risks before deciding to allow their kids into contact sports. Finally, felt nostalgic to hear Mr. Reaush. The wily veteran’s response on Drouin is bang on. Six NHL coaches have believed he is better suited at the wing, why will now be different. I have read your analysis based on what Greg saw while Drouin played in the minors but at this stage, with what you’ve seen in the couple of preseason games, do you believe Drouin will be an elite center this season? (Sorry for the long post)

Best podcast yet! Great conversation between Grant and Brian. Excellent guests. But most important the human aspect of what Andrew Shaw and his family may be going through! We sometimes forget that our players are people ! Thank you for that .

It’s really concerning reading about head injuries. We’re commonly taught to shake it off and keep going – be tough. In most cases, that’s just what we do and keep playing our sport. However, there are some gradual improvements, such as the concussion protocols, but even at that stage it isn’t enough.

The scary thing is that, in your example with Shaw, we have young players experiencing concussions. These concussions aren’t like pulled muscles, sprains, or bruises that can heal with rest and ice (or on their own). They linger and always cast a shadow over the individual – will the symptoms ever improve or go away? Will they return, or will another concussion be the end of a good quality of life? The aftermath of concussions will ruin these young players’ lives; another 50-60 years of life ahead dealing with nausea, headaches, and aversion to light?

Brian, I think that you’re 100% bang on with Shaw’s situation. I really hope that we’ve missed something with the evidence that is being presented…
