Brian/Grant, given the negative things you said about MP (long-term contract at 30, lack of drive, etc), why would EDM or any other team want him?

If Tavares becomes available, it’ll likely cost Pacioretty+Poehling+Lindgren+1st. I would wait for him to hit the free agent market unless they would take McCarron instead of RP & they’re able to get JT re-signed.

Brian I love ya but no we cannot move patches because who can replace the 35 goals he is bound to get every season and a guy that’s willing to stay in Montreal. There’s an article somewhere saying how the majority of patches goals are primarily assisted by Markov and Subban rushes. So maybe now that our d core is healthy and more mobile we can maybe see patches come back . People are too hard on him when he’s not scoring but he’s proven time and again he will get 30+ . Let’s not make any rash judgements until we give him some more time this season .

Hold on and wait for Tavares. Pacioretty , #1 draft Pick and a prospect.

great discussion – right now don’t trade anyone though. The boys are gelling. Only (heaven forbid) injury to a key player should make any trade a consideration right now. That said, I have always liked PatCHes, but those deficiencies and his sweet cap hit right now make him the ideal bait. I also think his captaincy could be easily picked up by either Weber or Gallagher. He was the most devastated of any player when Therrien got yanked, so I don’t imagine he is the most respected guy in the room. Essentalially he’s played more timid since the Chara hit, and the reinvented game he makes his money with is not truly that of a Captain.

I think MB is really waiting to see what happens with Tavares. There is not too many opportunities to make a play for a franchise centre. I really find it strange that he hasn’t signed yet. I doubt he moves though as the Islanders are headed in a decent direction.

    Hi guys.

Can you throw a download link into the post? I figured out how to download the file in a roundabout way, but others may not be as geeky as I am…..

Isles in tough spot. Good team likely to make playoffs so I don’t think they can move tavares. Send patch plus lindgren, plus benn to edm for RNH plus mark fayne contract.

    Great podcast guys..

    There’s my thoughts :

    – Do the Canadiens have anyone on this team or in the farm that could put up AS many or more points than Max’s has done in the last few years. In my opinion no unless they move Drouin to the left side.

    – Is RNH really a number one centre or is in my opinion a number two and is he worth that much.

    – Canadiens right need a top defense man pairing for Weber. Even with the recent success they have had the last few weeks.

I don’t think RNH is a one but I think Drouin and RNH would make an excellent 1-2 combo. RNH could take the harder minutes. He’s a real good 2 way player. Funnily enough he’s in the mould of Poehling. Two way with some offence. I’ve seen some compare Poehling to Mikko Koivu and Toews.

I maintain that they really must have a first pair left d.
