Habs Report Card

November 1, 2017

By Grant McCagg

The Canadiens played 12 games in October and got off to one of their slowest starts in recent memory, ending the month 4-7-1.
It could have been even worse, as the club that has the most difficult schedule through the first eight contests started off with a historically low 1-6-1 record. Once the Canadiens got back home they managed to somewhat right the ship, going 3-1 and scoring 18 goals as the offence finally started to click.
Here are player grades for each of the Habs players that appeared in at least six games in October:

Pretty accurate assessment. Need Price to get his confidence back; he is over-compensating and it’s killing the Habs.

I’d grade Mete higher due to what he’s accomplished after being thrust into a tough spot. He’s been good for most of the games. That’s a B in my book. As for the rest, pretty accurate.

thanks. I tried not to rate based on age, but rather on performance. He has no goals and two assists and -5 while playing 20 mins a game most nights. That’s really not a B IMO.

Tough to see those grades, but it was a bad month for the whole team. Hopefully what we started to see towards the end of the month holds through November so those grades can make their way up.

tough but fair; if it was based on only the past four games, I am sure it would be easier to boost some of those marks. I still can’t believe how poorly Petry has played, thinking back to how important his signing was two summers ago.
