Price Takes A Pause

November 14, 2017

By Brian Wilde

Carey Price has decided to stop temporarily his recovery from a lower body injury citing a “stagnant” situation as the cause. Price will take a two day break at least to let his injury rest, instead of pushing it daily with goaltending coach Stephane Waite.

Am I the only one who was hoping for info about something bothering him from the start of the year….because we all have been wondering what’s off this season…saying he was injured in minny and its minor is comforting in one way, but just leaves other questions.

The speculation before the Price interview this morning was that it was a groin injury. It would seem after listening to him that it is all the more likely a groin injury. Price says that it is a different location which means it is not his knee from two years ago. It is also lower body. Add to that, that groin injuries are often better left to rest when the healing is not happening. The Habs with Lindgren’s solid play have a chance to let this heal completely because groin injuries tend to nag and they’re taking advantage of that chance. That’s my call.
I called Montoya concussion last week before it was announced. I got that one right. I’m pretty good with injuries on the overall though not 100 percent of course. So there’s my call.

Great work Brian. I take that Nemi is here more for Al Montoya’s injury then Carey’s in my opinion . Won’t be suprise if Price is back sometime next week or no later than the weekend.

I think he’s acquired for the doubt around both at the moment. Montoya is a concussion. No one ever knows the recovery time line. Price is likely a groin. They too can nag.

But no one ever worried long term about a groin so you get a security blanket that costs nothing.

Niemi is cheap insurance. Bergevin learned his lesson. Don’t count on everything working out in a “best case scenario” – still, it is concerning.
