Putting On Ducharme

April 27, 2018

By Brian Wilde

The Montreal Canadiens have made most of the long expected changes to their coaching staff for next season. As Recrutes previously reported, the choice is Dominique Ducharme who had a long career as a head coach in junior hockey, including coaching Canada’s national junior teams in back to back seasons culminating in a gold medal only months ago.

So no changes in Hockey Ops or Pro Scouting? Meaning Dudley, Carrierre and whoever it was that advised Bergy to sign Alzner, acquire Ott and Martinsen and Streit and Hemsky — based on what you know, those people get to keep their jobs???

Another french guy,but this ones supposed to be very talented,so kool. I wonder if ducharme will try n bend julien towards the offence side of the game more, rather then the prehistoric dinosaur defence first style.im sure the “atittudes” were bad inpart do to the the team being forced to play that defensive out dated style, with a crappy dcore. Please please habs management, let timmins chose who HE wants this june.

The unspoken upside to Ducharme’s hiring is the expert advice and influence in the evaluation of Quebec talent, a deficiency in Bergevin’s inner circle (the Quebec scouts don’t have as much clout at the table). If Bouchard also joins the Habs organization, it will also add to this.
Both Ducharme and Bouchard are very good with young players, they teach well and their records are impressive.
