December 20, 2017

By Grant McCagg

It took Nikita Scherbak all of 20 seconds to make a great setup to Chris Terry, who rang it off the post. Adam Cracknell got the rebound and deposited it into the net 28 seconds into the game.

Terry is great in the AHL but does nothing in the NHL, leave him down there…

The infatuation with veterans at both levels, s troubling and detrimental. To choose Gelinas over Juulsen, who you are supposed to be developing, explains why Lefebvre has a long history of failure behind him. To think Bergevin waited, literally waited for Lefebvre to be rejected by every other NHL team and then rehired him is so funny it’s sad. No need to go any further to know where the Habs are headed under Bergevin, regardless of the job Timmins does in restocking.

Scherbak skill level and potential as a Top6 have never been question. What has, is his commitment as a professional athlete. Training, conditioning, nutrition were not taken seriously by Nikita.
Not 100% sure, but It seems he is now. If he wants to play in the NHL, he better be stronger.
