Walk On The Wilde Side: Drouin Time

August 28, 2017

By Brian Wilde

It’s been a 20-year search for a number-one center for the Montreal Canadiens. No one has thought GM Marc Bergevin believes the search is already over, but perhaps he believes he has his man, and perhaps Recrutes is the first to be on this truth as a possibility. Brian Wilde takes a walk to tell you why it could be happening right now right under our noses.

Montreal Canadiens Owner Geoff Molson in 1986 and 1987 was on the LCC hockey team.

The second year he became an assistant captain for the LCC team.

About Brian Wilde

Brian Wilde has worked in hockey since he was 20. He was the rink side host for the Edmonton Oilers at CTV and Ottawa Senators for Sportsnet. He was also lead reporter on the Montreal Canadiens for 17 years at CTV Montreal.

Habs players train at LCC? Will they be returning to LCC in the near future? If so, when (dates and specific times)? Is it open to the public?

I believe they are done there now at LCC.

Sorry Jake I don’t have the answer to that. I believe they might be done though.

What about Lekhonnen at C? I wonder if they have considered that?

Drouin at centre interests me, mainly because, as well as his offensive playmaking abilities, he appears to posses excellent (what I like to call) defensive playmaking abilities – which come in handy when you are trying to clear the puck out of your own end – he appears to have a knack for making himself available to receive a pass – especially in his own zone – and I think that this will help the Habs avoid the last minute rush to clear the puck by banging it off the boards and chasing the play. I am not worried about his offence – that is natural and he will produce – as a Hab and if he plays at centre he has to be even more of a defensive playmaker in order to help the team…and the more I see of him, the more I think that he might be able to do it.
