Most definitely not as those are free platforms. We won’t be offering our podcasts for free. This is a paid subscription service. If you want to get the podcast in your phone so you don’t have to use data, then simply put it in your apple itunes library and then sync up your phone using an usb cable, then when the sync is done, play it off your music app. Takes 2 minutes. And then guarantees the subscriber that the material is for subscribers.

Or you could obviously just hit the play button on your computer or your phone and listen to it. But if you’re asking because it is a data issue and you want it downloaded into your phone when you have wifi, then there is your solution.

I download the file and put it in dropbox. Dropbox’s player then allows me to listen on my phone. Easier than synching your music library.

Dave does that work as a down load onto the phone that you can play back without using data or wifi ?

            September 14, 2017 at 7:54 pm

Yeah, when you get to the dropbox app on your phone (while using wifi, or data if you are rich or something…) check ‘make available offline’

            http://davebrodbeck.com/storage/IMG_1639.PNG

So you have to download it to your phone of course, but once it is there you don’t have to stream it and use data.

Oh man that is even easier than the way I figured out. Thanks Dave.

Another great podcast guys. One question, is Zach Redmond still in our organization? If he is, what an abundance of D men.

    • Brian Wilde says

      September 14, 2017 at 8:20 pm

He is. The Habs have 14 AHL-NHL D men.

“Let the fun begin.” Optimism, positivity, hope. These keywords in the podcast wrap are why I’m here.

Habs hockey became negative for me the past few years.

Twitter in particular with the massive amounts of vitriol directed at the team & anyone who supports the GM & coach and owner.

I searched for content & discussion on my favourite team & contantly fell down a wormhole of negativity, many times from “media” who dismissed opinions other than their own agenda. Many times with zero respect for the people who make up their audience.

    How can this be sustained?

I asked myself, why would I read a newspaper if it’s only purpose is to run down my team and dismiss my opinions in a disrespectful way?

So the culling began on Twitter.
Needless negativity, fanboyism, agendas, disrespect and outright assholery….all gone.

I expect smart, honest, informative content about my team. Especially if I’m paying for it.

For media carrying negative agendas, good luck getting paid for it. Maybe some people out there enjoy being upset & are willing to pay for it.

    I’m not.

It’s been an extremely tough week personally.

I opened my phone to find the latest Recrutes podcast.

Informed balanced discussion with respectful disagreements.

    Optimism. Positivity. Hope.

What more could a Habs fan ask for?

Let the fun begin indeed, thanks for making this tough week easier.

Wow. This email made my week…or maybe even my month along with getting Habs accreditation. It’s feedback like this that makes the slow subscription days that much more tolerable. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you Darren!

Thank you very much. That really is what we are all about. Everyone’s idea of what is fair and balanced is is different. Some real haters think I am a homer. I think I am not even slightly. I think I simply flip the coin over to see what both sides think of any particular issue…. isn’t that what balanced is? Anyway….. thank you. It pushes me forward when the subscription count doesn’t. Cheers.

        hi fellas,

Love the work so far and am considering signing up. What is the expected frequency of the podcasts? They give me motivation to get up for my early morning walk.

        No pressure! haha

Thanks for the email, Al. We’re going to be doing a pile of them…expecting well over 100 per year..certainly after every game.

Grant may be a little optimistic on the number. When I am in the States for example covering the team it won’t be really be possible then. But there will be a lot of them.

    Awesome.

    Thanks for the quick response.

I just signed up for the year. Looking forward to a great Habs season and to your excellent content.

I also love the musical choices for the podcast by the way. Keep it up!

Not sure why this rumor is still active, but Alex Galchneyuk is American. Born in Wisconsin. He hasn’t played a game with a Russian organization since he was 12 (and he played one game). Came up with the USNTDP. You can make the argument that he can’t play centre without resorting to the baseless argument that it’s because he’s Russian.

    • Grant McCagg says

      September 16, 2017 at 8:50 pm

No..he didn’t come up with the USNTDP…he lived in the US for one year and grew up predominantly in Russia. Never noticed the accent? Played on the US WJ team because he was born in the US..but hardly grew up there.

      • Ian Boisvert says

        September 16, 2017 at 11:54 pm

My point is that a nationality doesn’t define a hockey player, and to perpetuate the narrative that Russians have bad attitudes seems so far below this publication. I have a ton of respect for the both of you. Say he can’t play centre because of something between his ears or because he just doesn’t understand that part of the game. Leave flags out of it.

          September 17, 2017 at 5:05 pm

Didn’t have time to properly respond/approve this yesterday as I was out of town. To be honest I wasn’t hesitant to even do so because we don’t need this site to go into the HF boards gutter. You want to complain/put us down like this why not send a private email?

No..what you said in your last email wasn’t your “point”..you said it was baseless because he grew up in the US..which is blatantly false. I said in the podcast that Russians can be stubborn to want to learn what coaches are trying to teach them..not all of them..but some, including Alex. If that wasn’t the case do you think he wouldn’t be playing center…or is it everyone’s fault but his? Has every coach he’s had in the past six years not had a clue what they were telling him and he’s been unfairly treated?
I have been around the game for 30 years..heard and learned a lot of things..have close friends from my hometown who were NHL GM’s..and believe me…there are Russian players who are reluctant to adapt to what NHL coaches want them to do. This is not a secret in any way shape or form..and to Fine if you want to disagree with that contention..but please don’t be one of the overly politically correctos and say that somehow we are “above such comments”….I’d say that’s generalizing and overdramatizing it just a tad…as it is simply a fact to anyone connected to the game.

Does it not occur to you that we may know some things about Alex that you don’t? Has it occurred to you that if anything we have been “easy” on him when it comes to this subject? No..instead you take offence to me apparently painting all Russians with the same brush even though I did nothing of the kind.

“Leave flags out of it”? I don’t appreciate being told what I should and shouldn’t do when it comes to offering an opinion…certainly when you are falsely generalizing. You accusing me of saying ALL Russians are reluctant to listen to NHL coach is a worse generalization than me suggesting some are reluctant to learn the defensive end of the game..including Ovechkin.

            September 17, 2017 at 5:16 pm

You said “call me xenophobic,” and then went on to say Galchenyuk is bad because he’s Russian. It’s fine. Pulled my subscription anyway.

          • Grant McCagg says

            September 17, 2017 at 5:28 pm

Sounds like you only heard what you wanted to hear…that’s fine. Not everyone was going to agree with what I said..that’s why they’re called opinions. Enjoy the season.
